Matt Rodekamp is a graduate of Iowa State University where he received a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1998. Prior to joining substance in 2007, he worked with both Herbert Lewis Kruse Blunck Architecture and RDG in Des Moines. Matt was named an Associate in 2015. He has been involved in numerous projects recognized for design excellence at the local, state, regional, and national level. Projects include interiors for the Dorsey & Whitney and Davis law firms in Des Moines, Marakon Associates in New York, and the Pomerantz Student Union at Drake University recognized by Contract magazine as the outstanding educational interior in the nation in 2004. In addition, he contributed to the design of projects for Wells Fargo Financial, Cornell College, and the Great Ape Trust of Iowa, as well as award-winning residential projects in San Francisco and Des Moines. Matt led the design of the new Des Moines Area Regional Transit (DART) Central Station, a gateway project at the south edge of Des Moines Central Business District. He is currently leading the renovation of a Fortune 500 company’s office building. In addition to his professional activities, Matt has served on professional committees for the Iowa Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, as well as a volunteer for Des Moines’ 80/35 Music Festival and the Greater Des Moines Music Coalition.
