Armed with a passion for public architecture, coupled with a commitment to mentorship and community involvement, Mindy Aust has devoted her career to thoughtful design of public spaces, including multiple award-winning federal government, public library, residential and university campus projects. Projects include the flood ravaged Federal Courthouse in Cedar Rapids, four branch libraries within the Des Moines Public Library System including the award-winning Central Library, and Marston Hall on Iowa State University’s Campus. She received a Bachelor of Architecture degree with a minor in entrepreneurial studies from Iowa State University in 2001. As a Principal of substance, she is a strong advocate for excellent design and its benefit to communities. Mindy uses her expertise to advance the profession in multiple contexts. As a complement to her architectural work, she is a leader within the AIA serving as President of AIA Iowa in 2016, as well as serving on a number of community boards and committees. In recognition of her significant contributions to the profession early in her career, Mindy was recognized with a 2016 National AIA Young Architect Award.
